“Worship is a way of gladly reflecting back to God the radiance of His worth.” - John Piper
At Sovereign Hope Church, we believe worship is response of our hearts to God’s infinite worth. Worship is not something God needs. He is not served by human hands as though He needs anything (Acts 17:25). Yet, the Lord pursues worshippers who will do so in spirit and truth (John 4:24). So, we strive to worship in spirit and in truth. Song is simply one form of worship we have been given and commanded to use.
Our goal is to carefully design each service to provide optimal circumstances for true and spiritual worship in reflection of God's self-revelation in Christ through His Word. The songs we sing are not chosen based merely on popularity or familiarity, but for the explicit purpose of helping us properly respond to our great God.
This requires both old songs we treasure and cherish, as well as new songs (Psalms 33:3; 40:3; 96:1; 98:1; 144:9; 149:1).In order to help prepare our hearts for joyful celebration and praise, we have compiled together a list of songs we sing at Sovereign Hope Church. You can access that below:
We also have a page with encouragements on how to prepare for each weeks service. You can access that page here.
Whether or not you have the opportunity to listen to the songs ahead of time, our hope is you feel free to either lift your voice with us, or simply respond through meditation on the words.
