What is The Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the historical record that God has come into world history as a man: Jesus of Nazareth. He was totally perfect. He never did, thought or spoke anything wrong... in any way (Hebrews 4:15).

Every human has done, thought or spoken wrongly, many times a day... each day of their life. The Bible calls this sin (Romans 3:23).

Just one, single sin against an infinitely perfect God deserves an infinite punishment (Romans 6:23).

So, when Jesus died, He died the death we deserved. He gave His life as the sacrifice for our sins (Mark 10:45).

He was buried as proof that He had died after being beaten, flogged and crucified. Then, after being in the tomb for three days, He rose from the dead. He overwhelmingly proved this by physically appearing to well over 500 people at many places and at many times, so as to remove all doubt and speculation (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Matthew 28:1-15).

Luke, a highly educated doctor (not one of the original disciples), was convinced after performing his own thorough investigation (Luke 1:1-4; Acts 1:1-3).

Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin, Satan and death itself. Because of this, we can be certain that God accepted Jesus' death on our behalf.

God no longer has a single drop of anger or judgment toward those who believe in Christ (Romans 8:1).

To those who believe in Christ Jesus as their righteousness given by God's undeserving grace, the Father not only says: "You are forgiven and I no longer remember your sins." He says: "You are totally righteous, because when I look at you I see My Perfect Son!"

The sweet reward of salvation is eternal life (John 3:16). We look forward to Christ's literal, physical return when our bodies will be redeemed and we will enjoy Him on a new Earth.

The Bible describes true belief as a lifestyle of recognizing that sin never fully satisfies. It always destroys and it keeps us from God. Therefore, faith in Jesus is a lifelong pursuit of our joy and pleasure in Him, turning from sin and chasing down more and more of God in Christ.

For this reason, Sovereign Hope Church exists to spread a passion for God in Christ for the joy of all peoples.

Do You Believe?

If someone referred you to this page or you just happened to stumble upon it, then find comfort in the reality that God desires your attention.

We at Sovereign Hope beg you to consider this. Your Creator and King has died in the place of those who rebelled against Him.

Do you honestly think God wants you to get your life in order before coming to Him?

Imagine receiving a phone call right now, informing you that the person you love most was in a horrible accident.

But, when the paramedics came to scoop them up into the ambulance, they refused because they weren't “cleaned up” enough to go to the hospital. How crazy would that be?

Jesus tells you to come as you are.

Let Him do the cleaning up.

Let Him do the healing.

You can't do it yourself.

...

God does not call those who are qualified. He qualifies those whom He calls.

If He is calling you, then respond with all your heart, soul, strength and mind.

For Those Who Believe.

You will never manage to somehow mature out of the Gospel phase of Christian life.

Do not think of believing in the Gospel (or a prayer you may have prayed) as a one-time event that behaved as a ticket to heaven. There isn't anything better or more advanced for believers than the Gospel. The Gospel is the believer’s strength and joy every day of their life until they die.

The most joyful life is the one spent digging for the hidden treasures of the Gospel. There are higher heights of knowing God, deeper depths of love in the Spirit, wider widths of application, and longer lengths of faithful and fulfilling endurance we've yet to experience.

Preach the Gospel to yourself every day.
